Pigeon Forge & the Smokey Mountains

Colors in the lower mountains

We arrived at Pine Mountain RV Resort at 10:30 am cst on Tuesday, November 5th.  We met up with the Graces, Lamberts, Goodwins, Spinas, and Rutherfords.  The Martins, Lamberts, Mitchells, and Evans came in later for a total of 20 people here from the club in their motorhomes.  By the time Saturday arrives, we will have a busload for the game.  Since we left at 2 am the morning we drove here, taking approximately 7 hours, we rested the better part of the day.  Linda began to get sick with a head cold or allergies and it was worst the next day so we found a local walk in clinic to get her some meds and a shot.  The remainder of the day was spent at the mall and the RV resting up.  Thursday, we went to Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant for breakfast with the Grace's and Rutherfords.  After returning to the MH, Linda fixed a picnic lunch and we rode into the mountains to the Newfound Gap in the afternoon.  As always, the drive was very enjoyable.  The temperature dropped from 58 to 40 degrees at the top of the mountain.  We stopped at our special walking path to have the picnic and then we took the walk along the creek.  The water was up and flowing briskly since we had a rain the night before.  In the lower section, the leaves were still holding their colors, but as we neared the halfway point up the mountain, the trees were bare.

Fayetteville, Arkansas

We arrived in Fayetteville on a rainy wednesday, October 30th, and stayed at the Southgate RV Park on School Avenue about 1 1/2 miles from the Campus.  The next day we moved to the dry camping area at

the Roadhog Park that is operated for the benefit of the RVers that follow the Arkansas Razorbacks.  We went to the local Honda dealership to have our Odessey serviced.  The people there, as everywhere in Arkansas, were very kind and gracious.  We got great recommendations for places to eat, the Catfish Hole, Herman's Rib House, the Powerhouse, and Penquins BBQ.  Best hushpuppies at the Catfish Hole and if you go to Herman's order the Grilled Prime Rib.  Auburn took care of business at the game and did what they had to in the victory over Arkansas 35-17.  After a dismal season last year of 3-9, Auburn has surprised everyone with a 8-1 season to this point.  We will be moving on to Memphis where I have a Doctors appointment  and then to Pine Mountain RV Park in Pigeon Forge, Tennnessee.
