Travel to Moab, Utah

View from my Bedroom window this morning
before leaving Monument Valley

Yesterday we left Monument Valley about 11 am and began our 150 mile trip to Moab.  The last two nights have been extremely cold with 31 and 28 degrees the last two nights in Moab.  Salt Lake City weather reports snow in the area with flurries as far south as Moab.  The drive was uneventful but beautiful.  The topography changed several times as well as the temperature.  When we left Monument Valley the temperature was 59 degrees but as we traveled further North the temperature dropped 14 degrees.  As we neared Moab we could see the LaSalle Mountains with snow on top of the Mountains.  We arrived at Portal RV Resort at 2:30pm.   The resort is nice with a good view of the mountain range with snow on the top.  After getting settled in, we decided to go to the visitors center and get information on the area, since Canyonlands and Arches National Park is closed.  There are several state parks that we got information on as well as several scenic drives along the Colorado River with several stop overs.  Our time here will be enjoyable.  Plans are for a whitewater rapid ride down the Colorado as the weather warms.
We awoke to 28 degree weather this morning with a very heavy frost on everything.  We plan to get out for a short period after breakfast and return to watch some good SEC football including Auburn and Ole Miss
